Video Case Study Example – Time Series in the Age of Big Data

· Roopam Upadhyay 14 Comments

Dear readers, watch the first video case study example on YOU CANalytics. This was my first attempt at the video presentation and I must say it is damn hard to speak while staring at your computer. I have come away with a new-found respect for the folks who could effortlessly dart monologs at their machines. I am old fashioned and prefer the art of conversation with warm human bodies. I hope I will evolve with time. Let me know your feedback and/or suggestions on ways for me to improve on this new medium.

In this video, I have covered these topics: an open and imminent problem for aspiring data scientists i.e. analysis of time-related (temporal) data in the age of big data; business forecasting and prediction with huge amount of data capture on the time scale; physics, randomness, and determinism; my own career transition from physics to data science; time series modeling.

This is really an amazing start for your video trials. I really enjoyed and couldn’t stop till I finished watching. You just need to enhance your voice tone a little and change it according to what you are talking about to make it more ear catching for the audiences. I know this is ur first trial and I understand. That’s why I see it is awsome.

I really liked ur explanation and how you used the physics analogy to explain forcasting and the life plot to explain timeseries. You truly have great credentials and i am waiting further for your future videos and posts. I liked the explanation in the video really specially the part of shifting to data Science; I am a newby in Data Science, I am still studying it after being a Software Engineer for years. But Data Science is full of science, life and human interaction the thing I really like.

I think you would be of great support to my career with your advices.

    Great job (Y)

Thanks, Hanaa. That’s a good suggestion. Even I felt I need to avoid monotone. Am planning to experiment a bit with this format – let’s see how things pan out.

      Thanks again.

Thanks a lot Roopam for the video. Please do put background music in the video. It distracts from what you are saying at times.

    Please keep the videos coming.

To correct – Please do NOT put background music in the video. It distracts from what you are saying at times.

Just finished reading all the blog posts. Such great stuff. Especially the Case Study Examples where you use R as I am relatively new to R and data analysis. Keep up the good work.

About the video. The biggest drawbacks for me were the background music and pacing which made the speech harder to follow.

It’s an alternative spelling for monologues – an Americans version.
