At IIM Lucknow
For the last few days, I was at IIM Lucknow as a guest faculty to give lecture sessions on ‘Data Science, and Marketing Analytics‘ to their MBA students. It was an interesting experience to interact with young minds that will influence the future course of the business world. It was equally interesting for me to communicate the excitement I feel about my field (data science and predictive analytics) to the students. The best part for me was to listen to ideas from the bright and enthusiastic students. Additionally, it was equally enriching to talk to the excellent faculty at IIM Lucknow.
The motivating aspect about visiting premier institutions for education all across the world is the exposure to aspirations and dreams that young students possess. The feeling that the world is their oyster and enthusiasm to create a better, and prosperous planet. This exposure is a good start to…
A New Phase in My Career
The following quote by Steve Jobs is a major source of inspiration for me:
“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on.” ― Steve Jobs
I am really thankful that finding the work I truly love didn’t turn out to be a life long search. The keywords that I associated with a job that I can truly love: practical problem solving, mathematics, creativity, analysis, working with people, learning every day, knowledge sharing, benefiting business & seeing the fruits of my efforts. I am lucky that my career in data science and advanced analytics for so many years has allowed me to check mark all these keywords.
For quite a few years now, I have been working in a more formal set up while doing data science and analytics, as part of a team in the corporate world. Now, I feel excited about a new direction: the entrepreneurial stint in my career. I plan to work both independently and with partners in different industries on data analytics projects for different sectors. The best part is the trust that different clients are showing in my abilities with data science. I am really excited about working with a great set of people and partners in this new phase of my career. Additionally, like my visit to IIM Lucknow, I am also spending a portion of my time in training and communicating the application of analytics and data science.

Just to add…I would be interested to work on ‘Spatial Analytics’, where I can put my Domain expertise into use. Do you have any idea how it would work or Any suggestions on how to start with it?
